In this section of our catalog you will find some pictures showing the restoration and restitution ceramic works in the Park of Málaga, also called Park Avenue, we performed in 2006. In this case, the job was to restore the original parts to each fountain, bank, planter, soil of the squares... of the famous park opened in 1897. We conducted the study and research of ceramic products for restoration of tiles, fountains, benches, baseboards, friezes, murals, bricks, soils... that provided the appropriate function to replace the original elements. Our Workshop was responsible for carrying out the research work of original designs, finding the necessary materials and handicrafts, and conducting and supervising the restoration works in several locations of the park. ![]() Square of the "Nymph with pitcher", also known as "The Doll". The casting sculpture was done by A. Durenne. The Nymph is located on an octagonal based fountain decorated with seville tiles. Left and right pictures show the fountain before and after having been restored.

The deterioration of some of the tiles with traditional women faces made it impossible to restore, so the technical team decided the thorough removal of the original pieces, which are now preserved in the Museum of the Alcazaba of Malaga. Instead exact replicas of handmade tiles were placed, as showed in the photograph. ![]() Glorieta of "Nymph with Seashell". The casting sculpture of 1.60 m. was made by A. Durenne in 1877. This statue was initially installed in the Victoria square, and in 1922 was transferred to the Park. In 1970 was again withdrawn due to spoilage, returning to the Park after restoration by Salvador Parra for the City Council works in 2006. Hardest thing of restoring this Glorieta was rebuilding the fountain, because it was not possible to find any documentation about its original design, so we did it from an image of an old postcard, you can see to the right of the photograph.

Fiestero Square. In its center we found the "Monument Fiesteros", sculpture depicting a character dressed in costume Verdiales, very typical in various areas of Malaga province. The work was created by Miguel García Navas and inaugurated in 1998.
The benches in this square showed tiled decoration with both techniques: hand painted overglaze and embossed dry rope . Some of them presented modifications of the original design as visible in the top left picture were two industrial tiles with a bird are located instead of the expected faces and shields. In our intervention they were restituted with handmade tiles identical to the original aesthetic.
In the top picture, the poor look that showed in the small square the raised garden beds with cracks in the structure and significant deterioration of ceramics in general. In this case, the restoration work included the removal of tiles and borders, planter reconstruction, restoration of beading and hand painted tiles and placement of the kick of the pilaster tiles.
The passing years had severely affected soils roundabout square, so the project management opted for full restitution of them: handmade bricks, list as and decorative tiles were placed to to restore the soil to its original appearance.
Above we see the design, following the original disposition of parts, and reconstruction work below ground.
As responsible for the restitution of ceramic works in Málaga Park, we first performed a detailed study of the distribution of bricks, tiles, decorative murals, borders... and then oversaw the placement of this soil and the many other corners where damaged ceramic pieces were restorated.
